Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, has stepped into the world of entertainment, making his directorial debut with ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’. The series has been getting lots of love from Bollywood fans. Recently, Aryan opened up about why he chose filmmaking over acting, how his father influenced him.
Aryan Khan prefers storytelling and filmmaking over acting
In an interview with Variety, Aryan shared, “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve preferred telling stories. I always felt I had a lot of things to say, and I just feel I could tell it in a different and interesting way. I just felt there’s more control behind the camera. And, it’s simply, you enjoy it more.”
He explained why he enjoys working behind the camera, saying, “It’s something you love more. And I feel if you do something that you love, you always do a better job. And it stops being a job after a point, you look forward to it every day, and it’s what you want to do.”
How SRK shaped Aryan Khan’s filmmaking journey
Aryan revealed how his father’s guidance inspired him. He explained, “My father himself is extremely in-depth about the aspects of filmmaking, whether it is VFX, whether it is lighting, camera work, whatever. And ever since I was a kid, he would show me this, ‘You don’t actually get shot. This is how it happens.’”He further recalled, “Or, how do you make a plane fly through the sky without actually making a plane fly? And all of that was, obviously, it’s like magic to a child.” By the time he was 10 or 11, Aryan was already doing VFX work on iMovie and editing on Final Cut Pro.
Aryan Khan worked with friends on short films
Aryan was joined in the interview by Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, co-creators of ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’. Aryan shared that they had been making short films together since they were 14–15 years old.He said, “We wrote one during lockdown as well, which we just shot at home because we had two years of not much to do. And we shot it with my sister [Suhana Khan] and my dad, and I was just the DOP on that one.”Manav added that Aryan is a “great dialogue writer” who naturally moved into directing. Aryan explained, “So that’s how we actually got started. We were just jamming on multiple different things, thinking of storylines, plots, and we thought we should do it properly, and do it on a larger scale.”
