
There seems to be no stopping for Risbah Shetty as his Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is going past benchmarks after benchmarks with each passing day. At the end of its extended first week , the sequel to 2022 blockbuster film Kantara not only went past the lifetime collection of the first installment , it also became the second biggest hit of 2025 beating Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara. Now with its performance on its 2nd Friday where it collected Rs 22.35 crore, the film has now gone on to become the 18th biggest hit of Indian Cinema. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 359.75 crore and it has gone past Rajinikanth’s Jailer’s lifetime collection of Rs 348.55 crore to claim the 18th position.
With its 2nd Friday collection the film also went past the lifetime collection of Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju which had minted Rs 342.57 crore. It has also pushed Thalaptahy Vijay’s Leo out of the Top 20 list of highest grossing films of Indian cinema as it was sitting on 20th position with a lifetime collection of Rs 341.04 crore .The next big challenge for the film would be Anthony and Joe Russo’s Robert Downey Jr led Avengers:Endgame which had collected Rs 373.05 crore and Aamir Khan’s Dangal which had earned Rs 387.88 crore in their theatrical runs. The journey for the film is far from over as with its current performance it is eyeing a lifetime collection of more than Rs 500 crore and its second weekend will be very crucial in reaching that stage. Kantara 2 features Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rakimini Vasanth in pivotal roles, the makers have also announced the third part with the climax of the second part, but it will be a while before Rishabh returns to the franchise as he already has Hanu-Man 2 with Tejja Sajja and a film on Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj .
