
India concluded their campaign at the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships with a bronze medal after losing to defending champions Indonesia in the semifinals in Guwahati on Friday.The Indian team had made history by securing their first medal in the mixed-team event after defeating former champions Korea on Thursday. However, they fell short against pre-tournament favourites Indonesia with scores of 35-45, 21-45. The winner of this semifinal match between Indonesia and India will face either 14-time champions China or Japan in the final.India made a single change to their winning lineup from the Korea match, with Vishakha Toppo replacing Aanya Bisht in mixed doubles. The tie began with the boys doubles category.India’s top doubles pair, Bhargav Ram Arigela and Viswa Tej Gobburu, provided an excellent start by defeating Indonesia’s Muhmmad Rizki Mubarrok and Raihan Daffa Pramono 9-5.In girls singles, Unnati Hooda managed to maintain a slim lead of 18-16 against Thalita Wiryawan in the first set. However, Indonesia’s world junior number one boys singles player Mohd Ubaidillah shifted the momentum by defeating Rounak Chouhan 11-5.The mixed doubles match saw Lalramsanga and Vishakha Toppo level the scores at 28-28 and later 9-3. However, Indonesia’s Ikhsan Pramudya and Rinjani Nastine secured a 10-9 victory.Nastine and Riska Anggraini then defeated India’s Reshika U and Vennala K 9-2, winning the first set 45-35.Indonesia dominated the second set from the beginning, with Mubarrok and Pramono defeating the Indian boys pair 9-2.Unnati lost to Wiryawan 7-9, while Rounak fell to Ubaidillah 7-9, making it difficult for the Indian doubles teams to overcome the deficit.The Indian players will now focus on the individual championship, scheduled to begin on Monday.
