
BENGALURU: A woman in Bengaluru has alleged that she was abused by an Uber auto driver because she is from Northeast. The woman, who goes by Enn Bii on Instagram, posted a video showing the driver, Pavan HS, demanding that she speak in Kannada and allegedly trying to hit her. She also claimed that the driver took videos of her during the confrontation.Bengaluru City Police have reached out to the woman for more details, including the exact location of the incident and her contact information.Uber said it has escalated the matter to a specialised team for review and apologised for the driver’s alleged behaviour. “This behaviour is extremely concerning, and we’re so sorry this happened and we are currently investigating” the company said.

The incident reportedly happened on 2 October, when Bii cancelled a ride after the driver did not arrive despite the app indicating her ride was ready. She then took another auto, after which the driver appeared, blocked her path, and demanded money, she said. Bii said in the video alleged, “He’s abusing me like this because I’m from the northeast.”
