
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday honoured two freedom fighters from Tamil Nadu, Tiruppur Kumaran and Subramaniya Siva, on their birth anniversary. Taking to X, PM Modi said, “On this day, we remember and bow to two great sons of Bharat Mata, Tiruppur Kumaran and Subramaniya Siva. Both hail from the great state of Tamil Nadu and dedicated their lives to India’s independence and awakening a spirit of nationalism.“ He recalled that Tiruppur Kumaran was martyred at the age of 27 while holding the national flag during a violent crackdown on a march by freedom fighters in 1932, exemplifying courage and selfless sacrifice.Also read: Poll-bound Bihar in focus: PM Modi unveils Rs 62,000cr youth-focused initiatives; launches PM-SETU for IT
Subramaniya Siva, he added, inspired youth through his fearless writings and speeches, fostering cultural pride and patriotism. “The efforts of these two greats remain etched in our collective memory, reminding us of the struggles of countless people who fought for our freedom. May their contributions continue to inspire us to work for national development and unity,” PM Modi said.
