KARUR: Three special teams have been formed to pick up TVK general secretary Bussy Anand and deputy general secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar in relation to the stampede at the TVK rally on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of 41 people. Police sources said the order was passed by central zone IG K Joshi Nirmal Kumar. Earlier on Monday and Tuesday, the police arrested TVK west district secretary V P Mathiazhagan and central town secretary MC Ponuraj, who were both produced in the Karur district court and remanded in Trichy central jail. The team now has been formed to arrest the other two, who were also named in the FIR registered by the police.Meanwhile, Bussy Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday approached the Madurai bench of the Madras high court seeking anticipatory bail, anticipating arrest. In the FIR by the police, they were accused of delays, mismanagement, and chaos at Vijay’s campaign rally in Karur triggered the fatal crowd crush. Police said prolonged wait in the heat, lack of water and medical facilities, and overcrowding set off panic. The FIR filed by Karur town police alleged the rally was “deliberately delayed”.
