Actor Jaideep Ahlawat, or as you know him as Hatiram from ‘Patal Lok’ or Naren Vyas from ‘Jaane Jaan,’ Maharaj Jadunath from ‘Maharaj’ or the latest Rajan Aulakh from ‘Jewel Thief,’ has travelled a long journey to establish his career in the entertainment industry. In his own words, the journey has been so huge that he has references for everything.
Jaideep Ahalwat reflects on his journey
While speaking to MensXP, Jaideep mentioned he has lived a life in the village, a carefree life, where boys learned to swim holding a cow’s tail, and has now travelled not just in and around but outside of India, and can portray a character addicted to luxuries with much ease. “Village life was wonderful. It was different, but not difficult. We didn’t have a care in the world. There was nobody around to judge you. But it’s a huge change, coming from a village to living in Mumbai. Sometimes I feel that the arc is simply too huge. I’ve seen it all, from picking up cow dung to partying on the rooftop of a seven-star hotel,” shared the actor.“But this journey has given me a host of references. I have lived in a village, then in Rohtak, then in Pune, and now in Mumbai. I learned swimming by holding onto a cow’s tail; it’s a reference that I have. But I have also lived in a literal palace. My life has given me the opportunity to travel the world and learn about different cultures. I am more aware now, socially and politically. My references are very strong,” he added. He went on to explain how in the village, boys literally learn to swim by holding on to a cow’s tail. He said that the cattle will not drown, and it is up to the boy to keep his grasp tight and learn to swim in the water; and he has that reference, and can play such a part.
When Jaideep Ahlawat spoke about his early days in Mumbai
Jaideep recently appeared on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, where he reflected on his early days in Mumbai. He shared living in tight quarters, and it started with just two occupants, but then “we became six people in one BHK because someone or the other would ask for a place to stay, and we would allow them to stay with us. So the bedroom of my house was filled with clothes, and we all would just lie together in the open kitchen and hall.” The actor highlighted that despite the small space, it was all fun and happiness, as there was no room for sadness.
