Varun Dhawan shared a funny moment from Jug Jugg Jeeyo, where he had to act drunk in a scene with Anil Kapoor. To get into character, he and Maniesh Paul actually started drinking in the morning, and by afternoon, they were slurring.
Getting into character with method acting
Recalling the scene with Maniesh Paul and Anil Kapoor, he recalled his character had to give a drunken speech. To get into character, he started drinking with Maniesh at 7:30 am.
The challenges of shooting the scene
Talking to Pinkvilla, the actor shared, “During that climax scene with Anil sir, when they are renewing their vows, I get drunk and I give a speech. So we were supposed to be drunk. We started at 7:30 am. So Maniesh and I started drinking in the morning, and by 2 pm, we were slurring.”He said he had to sober up afterward, but since the scene wasn’t finished, he had to repeat the process the next day. “And the next day, the shoot continued, so we had to drink again,” he added.
Varun on social media and false narratives
During his recent chat with ETimes, Varun opened up on actors now having boundaries because due to social media, things are blown out of proportion and more often than not, presented with a wrong narrative. He said, “It’s so easy to create a false narrative today with social media. What shakes you more is a false narrative. For example, I’m working with the PR people I’m working with for years. Now it has gone to a level where it’s beyond them. Earlier we would know if a story is planted but now it has gone to a level wherein ‘kuch bhi ho raha hai’. That is not the moral ethics that I stand for or my team stands for. When we see these things we get shaken up and someone like a Janhvi who is relatively new, it shakes your confidence.“Elaborating further, he added, “Haal hi mein mere driver ke saath hua. We just reached somewhere but the way the videos were shared, it became a thing that ‘they are fighting’. I said, ‘what rubbish’. He was saying that only, that I want to come and take a picture with you. That man has come and taken a picture with me later on. Nothing happened. If someone from law enforcement comes and stands next to me. I will stand there and listen and talk to him. The man has come and taken a picture with me, the cop spoke to me. Nothing happened. But people want to make an issue out of nothing.”On the work front, Varun will next be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role. The film also features Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra in key roles. The film is all set to hit the theatres on October 2.
