Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu addressed widespread misinformation about the company, clarifying doubts about where its products are developed, where data is stored, and how it operates globally. In a detailed social media post, Vembu said all Zoho products are built in India, and the company pays taxes on its global income in the country. He also highlighted Zoho’s global footprint, with offices in over 80 countries, including a strong presence in the United States.“All the products are developed in India. Our global headquarters is in Chennai and we pay taxes in India on our global income. As a global corporation headquartered in India, we have offices in over 80 countries and have a strong presence in the US which is a big market for us,” Vembu wrote. He addressed concerns about customer data, confirming that Indian users’ information is hosted domestically, in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, with plans to expand to Odisha. Zoho operates more than 18 data centres worldwide, each storing data for its respective country or region.“We are committed to hosting each country’s data in their own jurisdiction,” he added, as cited by ANI.Vembu also explained that Zoho runs all its services on company-owned hardware and software frameworks developed in-house, using open-source platforms such as Linux OS and Postgres database. The company does not rely on major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. He clarified that Zoho’s messaging platform, Arattai, is also self-hosted. Only some regional switching services are handled externally to improve speed, without storing any data outside Zoho’s servers. The company is expanding “points of presence” worldwide to boost performance.Regarding app store listings, Vembu said Zoho’s developer accounts on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store show a US address because they were initially registered by a US-based employee for testing purposes and never updated, as reported by ANI.Vembu concluded his post by reaffirming Zoho’s vision, “Made in India, Made for the World.”The company recently received praise from Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who said, “Nothing beats the feeling of using a Swadeshi product. So proud to be on Arattai , a Made In India messaging platform that brings India closer. My team and I are on board and are looking forward to also connecting with you here.”Meanwhile, Vembu also met Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, as the government continues its drive to promote homegrown products.
