The fight over Sunjay Kapur’s massive Rs 30,000 crore estate just got messier! His kids with Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, have taken the matter to the Delhi High Court, questioning a will they believe is forged. The court has now asked Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, to share a full list of his assets. To make things even more dramatic, Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, has also challenged the will that left everything to Priya.
Mandhira backs Samaira and Kiaan
Sunjay Kapur’s sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, is standing firmly behind Karisma Kapoor’s kids in the inheritance battle. She welcomed the HC’s direction, saying it will help clear things up, and found it surprising that the will didn’t leave anything for Samaira and Kiaan, given how close they were to their father.Reacting to the latest development, Mandhira told ANI that she was glad the court’s direction would finally bring the family some clarity. She expressed faith in the Indian justice system and hoped the move would ensure more transparency in the matter.
Rani Kapur challenges the will
Joining Samaira and Kiaan in challenging the will, Kapur’s mother claimed she was unfairly cut off from what she believed was her Rs 10,000 crore share. She alleged that after Sunjay’s marriage to Priya Sachdev, everything changed and she was left with nothing. Supporting her mother, Mandhira Kapur Smith pointed out that Rani was kept in the dark about the trust and the family was still waiting for answers. When asked about the chances of the family reconciling, Mandhira said that too many questions remain unanswered. With both her mother and Sunjay’s children now involved, she stressed that only complete clarity and transparency could pave the way for any resolution.
Mandhira highlights family wealth
Smith also pointed out that the family wealth was built by her father and later expanded by Sunjay, with the understanding that it would eventually be shared equally among all family members. She expressed frustration that one person had taken control of everything, leaving her mother without even a home.Rani’s lawyer, senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, suggested that the main dispute is actually between Karisma and Priya over the validity of the will. He added that while Rani is affected by the outcome, she will be filing her own response to clarify her stand.
A look back at Karisma and Sunjay’s marriage
The Bollywood actress married the businessman in 2003. The couple welcomed their daughter Samaira in 2005 and son Kiaan in 2011. But their marriage hit a rough patch, and after years of trouble, they divorced in 2016. Sunjay later tied the knot for the third time in 2017 with Priya Sachdev, and the two were together until his passing in June this year.
