Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the police play a vital role in maintaining social order. He congratulated the Madhya Pradesh Police on the launch of Dial 112, calling it a new initiative to enhance police responsiveness. He said, “This emergency number will become a cornerstone of a society’s safety & security ecosystem, serving as both a promise of swift police response and a commitment to assistance for the people of the state”. He noted, “In today’s era of Minimum Government, Maximum Governance, Dial 112 will play a key role as a ‘One Number for All Services’ facility,”. Police control rooms have been equipped with advanced technology and First Response Vehicles (FRVs) have been fitted with modern equipment. The Dial 100 model of Madhya Pradesh has already been adopted by other states, including Uttar Pradesh. Through its vigilance and efficiency, Dial 100 has ensured the safety of 2.23 lakh elderly citizens, more than 19 lakh women, 1,300 newborns and reunited 23,000 missing children with their families — a significant achievement for the MP Police.
The newly launched Dial 112 service will keep pace with the country’s development and provide all possible assistance to citizens in various emergencies. The state government has allocated over Rs. 1,500 crore for these vehicles, reaffirming that citizens’ safety remains its top priority. CM Dr. Yadav said that the MP Police has successfully met high safety standards. He was speaking at the launch event for Dial 112 held at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium. CM Dr. Yadav pressed a remote button to inaugurate the vehicles and flagged them off for the districts.
Police Risked Lives During COVID-19
CM Dr. Yadav praised the police for risking their lives to save citizens during crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic, when they stood on the frontlines to ensure public safety and order. He also recalled the invaluable services rendered by health and sanitation workers during that time. The Chief Minister said police personnel and officers have consistently upheld public trust in challenging situations. The state government has given the police full freedom to take action against those engaged in illegal activities. New appointments have been made in the police department, and personnel are being trained to enhance their skills. Officers are receiving training based on emerging challenges and innovations, along with sufficient resources to carry out their duties.
MP Police Keeping Pace with Technological Advancements
The Chief Minister said efforts are underway to strengthen surveillance by integrating cameras installed at public places with other monitoring systems. The government is also attentive to the needs of police personnel working in difficult conditions. Cultural and historical gateways are being developed on main roads of towns and cities, reflecting local heritage while also aiding security and making all-weather duty easier for personnel. Technology has brought major changes to policing in the state, including the introduction of e-summons via video calls and the internet — a process in which Madhya Pradesh is a national leader, with other states following its example.
August 14 — Remembering the Partition Horrors
CM Dr. Yadav reminded that August 14, a day before Independence Day, marks the remembrance of the horrors of Partition — one of the most tragic events in history. It was an extraordinary division of the country, during which police and security forces did their utmost to fulfill their duties. Today, India has the strength to strike deep into enemy territory, thanks to its powerful armed forces. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country’s pride will continue to grow and India will play an even greater role on the global stage.
Dial 112 — Ensuring All Possible Assistance for Citizens
Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Kailash Makwana called the launch of Dial 112 a historic occasion. He recalled that on MP Foundation Day 2015, the Dial 100 service was introduced in the state, which has since assisted lakhs of citizens through 1,000 vehicles. Under CM Dr. Yadav’s direction, 200 more vehicles have been added, bringing the total to 1,200 FRVs — including models like Scorpio and Bolero Neo — all equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Alligned with PM Modi’s vision, the Madhya Pradesh Police has launched the Integrated Helpline Number 112, which citizens can call for any type of assistance. Shri Makwana credited the success of this initiative to the dedicated efforts of officers Shri Adarsh Katiyar, Shri Sanjeev Shami, Shri Sai Manohar and Shri Yogesh Chaudhary.
The event was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes & Minority Welfare Smt. Krishna Gaur, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Shri J.N. Kansotia, Additional DGP (Telecom) Shri Sanjeev Shami, Superintendent of Police (Dial 112) Smt. Neetu Thakur and a large number of police officials.
