NEW DELHI: In the wake of the Supreme Court’s sharp remarks against leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi over his alleged comments about the army, the BJP on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress leader. The ruling party questioned whether Rahul was aiding enemy nations instead of supporting India’s sovereignty and national security. At a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the Supreme Court’s observations underscore the need for Rahul to exercise caution in his future statements.“Certainly, Mr (Rahul) Gandhi needs to be more careful in future. The question arises – does India deserve a better leader of opposition. The question arises – as a leader of the opposition, who has taken oath under the Constitution to protect the sovereignty of the country, is destroying the sovereignty of our country,” he said. He also added: “Is he helping the nations that are inimical to our country. and is he demoralising the brave Indian armed forces. What kind of leader of the Opposition he is, who makes such irresponsible statement?”Bhatia further went on to question his patriotism, referring to SC’s statment he said, while the soldiers were pushing back against the Chinese agression the Congress leader was suggeting cessation of land to China. He stated, “When our army showed its bravery and pushes back the Chinese army, Rahul Gandhi said that the Chinese army captured 2,000 sq km of the Indian territory, killing 20 Indian soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh… The Supreme Court made a statement on his remark. They said that if you are a true Indian, then you wouldn’t say this… This raises a question about the credibility of Rahul Gandhi. How mature is he as the leader of the Congress Party? ... The Supreme Court also remarked on how he knew about the area being captured by the Chinese army. Was he there? … This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi has shown an anti-India mentality.”Rahul had said the Chinese army was “thrashing” Indian soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh, and that the media wouldn’t question it.” People will ask about Bharat Jodo Yatra… but they will not ask a single question about China capturing 2,000sqkm of Indian land, killing 20 Indian soldiers, and thrashing our soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh… Don’t pretend people don’t know.”The top court has put a hold on the criminal defamation case filed against Rahul Gandhi concerning his alleged comments about the Indian Army in relation to the 2020 Galwan Valley clash with China. But the BJP has been mounting its attack cornering the Congress MP.Minister of parliamentary affairs and BJP MP from Arunachal West Kiran Rijiju, in a post on X slammed Gandhi, saying, :”Supreme Court has given shri Rahul Gandhi ji a tough message & lesson! If he does not even listen to the words of India’s Supreme Court, how can others keep control over his useless talks?”BJP MP from Kangra Kangana Ranaut while reacting to top courts remarks said, “Rahul Gandhi always speaks against India, be it on economy or defence forces. He speaks in support of enemy nations. He has anti-India mindset. So, this is a welcome move by the Supreme Court that they pulled him up. In the tine to come, others should be mindful that they do not hurt the honour, integrity and morale of India.”Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan slammed Gandhi saying, “Today, the Honourable Supreme Court sharply rebuked Rahul Gandhi for his irresponsible remarks on the army and national security. Regarding the false claim of China occupying 2000 km of Indian land, the Court asked – “Were you there? Do you have any evidence? Just being the leader of the opposition doesn’t mean you can say anything!”
