
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date to apply for admission and re-registration for the July 2025 session. Students now have time until August 15, 2025 to complete the process. New extended deadline for IGNOU registration
The new deadline of August 15 applies to:
- Fresh admission into undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes under both ODL and Online modes
- Re-registration for existing students continuing their studies
The earlier deadline was July 31, 2025. IGNOU officials confirmed the extension to ensure wider access and reduce last-minute technical bottlenecks for thousands of students applying online.
How to register for IGNOU fresh admission
Here is how interested candidates can register online for IGNOU admissions in July 2025 session:
- Visit the applicable admission portal.
- Click on “New Registration”.
- Fill in personal, academic, and contact details.
- Upload required documents: passport-size photo, scanned signature, marksheets, and ID proof.
- Choose your programme from the list of available ODL or online courses.
- Pay the registration fee via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
- Submit and download the confirmation slip for records.

Tips for IGNOU applicants
- Submit your application well before the deadline to avoid heavy portal traffic.
- Make sure your scanned documents meet the required file size and format.
- SC/ST students pursuing undergraduate ODL courses may be eligible for a 50% fee waiver, if not already availing another benefit.
- For any technical issue or delay in fee confirmation, wait up to 24 hours before retrying. IGNOU automatically refunds duplicate payments.
