Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’, directed by Priyadarshan, is set to arrive in cinemas in April this year. Ahead of its release, reports stated that an early draft of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ was changed into ‘Bhooth Bangla’. And now, the makers of the Kartik Aryan films have reacted to the speculation. Let’s learn more about it.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ production house REACTS
A source told India Today that ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ is a “prized asset” of T-Series, the production house backing the film. The insider further stated that any attempt to capitalize on their brand name or the franchise would invite legal action.
According to the same report, Shiv Chanana, co-producer of Bhushan Kumar’s production venture, shared that he was surprised by the reports doing the rounds on the internet. He said, “We have also come across some articles, but the fact is we have never received any script from Mr Priyadarshan or his team for making a ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ franchise.”He further rubbished the speculations of the ‘Bhooth Bangla’ being an old draft of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’. He shared that both BB2 and BB3 were original stories and had no link in between them or any other scripts. Chanana went on to add, “It is our franchise. If anything has to be developed, it will be developed by us and under our supervision, which is exactly how ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ were made. I don’t understand where these stories are coming from—this was never the case.”
‘Bhooth Bangla’ stands separate
With that clarification, the makers of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ have put the rumors around ‘Bhooth Bangla’ to rest. Meanwhile, the Akshay Kumar starrer is set to arrive in theaters on April 10, 2026. The film, directed by Priyadarshan, also features Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Manoj Joshi, late actor Asrani, and Mithun Chakraborty.
