The Super Bowl is one of the year’s biggest sports and entertainment events. Happening annually, fans are always on the lookout for who will be performing at the halftime event. From Beyoncé to Rihanna, many artists have made history; however, this year’s lineup is bringing up some controversy. US President Donald Trump recently issued a statement citing that he will be stepping away from the event this year. In his words, he cited that artists like Bad Bunny are one of the reasons that he does not wish to attend the Super Bowl.
Donald Trump refuses to attend the Super Bowl because of Bad Bunny
In a recent interview with The New York Post, the US President cited that he is not looking forward to this year’s Super Bowl. Trump made history last year when he became the first-ever sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. For this year, at first, he stated that the event is being held too far away and it is not something he would travel for.
Other than that, he also talked about Bad Bunny and Green Day, both of whom have been scheduled to perform at the halftime ceremony and opening ceremony, respectively. “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” he quipped. The US President had last year said that he does not know who Bad Bunny is. “I’ve never heard of him… I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment — I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Bad Bunny was titled as one of the most streamed artist on a popular music streaming website last year. In some of his recent comments, the singer had confirmed that he would not perform in the US for his tour because he feels that ICE may target the events. Green Day is a veteran rock band that has always been vocal about its views against US President Donald Trump’s government and the Republican Party. His songs ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ are popular track known for their anti-establishment lyrics.
