The Ministry of Education has set out the full schedule for the second semester of the current academic year, detailing the number of instructional days, Ramadan arrangements, official holidays, and the start dates for summer vacation across Saudi Arabia.
Semester duration and school days
The ministry said the second semester will continue until Thursday, Muharram 10, 1448 AH, with a total of 92 actual school days scheduled across all regions of the Kingdom.It added that some regions are subject to special arrangements specified in the official school calendar. In these regions, the semester will span 19 weeks of study, with a reduced number of school days in recognition of the spiritual significance of Ramadan.During Ramadan, the ministry has approved 11 school days, taking into account fasting and religious observances.
Breaks and official holidays
According to the ministry, the second semester schedule includes three breaks totalling 28 days.The academic calendar also features four official holidays:
- Founder’s Day, which falls on the fifth of Ramadan, corresponding to Feb. 22.
- The Eid al-Fitr holiday, beginning at the end of the school day on Thursday, Ramadan 17.
- The Eid al-Adha holiday, which begins at the end of the school day on Thursday, the fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah, and lasts for ten days.
- For education departments in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif, the Eid al-Adha holiday will begin earlier, starting at the end of the school day on Thursday, Dhul Qadah 27.
