The Himachal Pradesh Board of Technical Education (HPBTE) has announced the tentative examination dates for the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) 2026 and the Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET) 2026. Candidates who are planning to take admission to diploma courses in polytechnic institutes across Himachal Pradesh can now check the important details related to these entrance exams.As per the official information released by the board, the HP PAT 2026 examination will be conducted on May 17, 2026, while the HP LEET 2026 examination will be held on May 24, 2026. These entrance tests are conducted for admission to the first semester (PAT) and third semester (LEET) of diploma programmes in government and private polytechnic institutions in the state.
Exam timings
According to the official notice, the HP PAT 2026 exam will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. On the other hand, the HP LEET 2026 exam will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Candidates are advised to reach their examination centres well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
Application process
The board has also shared tentative details about the application schedule. The application form for HP PAT 2026 is expected to be released in March 2026, while the HP LEET 2026 application form is likely to begin in April 2026. HP PAT eligibility criteria 2026
The HP PAT examination is conducted every year for admission to polytechnic institutes affiliated with the Himachal Pradesh Board of Technical Education. These institutes are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and include registered Industrial Training Institutes approved by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).As per the eligibility criteria, candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 35 per cent marks from a recognised board. Students who are appearing in the Class 10 final examination are also eligible to apply. However, their candidature will be verified during the physical reporting process at the time of admission. In addition, applicants must be residents of Himachal Pradesh.Candidates are advised to read the detailed notification carefully once it’s released and ensure they meet all eligibility conditions before applying.
