A Brisbane woman woke up to find a two-and-a-half-metre carpet python lying on top of her in bed, Australian media reported. Rachel Bloor said the snake crawled onto her bed late on Monday night while she was asleep at her home. She initially believed the weight on her stomach and chest was her pet dog, before realising something was moving under the covers.Bloor woke her husband, who turned on the lights and spotted the snake. He said, “Oh baby. Don’t move. There’s like a 2.5m python on you,” Bloor told BBC.Bloor’s husband removed their two dogs from the room and told Bloor not to move. She then slowly slid out from under the covers and later helped guide the python out through an open bedroom window. While her husband was stunned, Bloor remained unfazed, having grown up around snakes on an acreage. She said, “I think if you’re calm, they’re calm,” she told BBC.Bloor believes the snake climbed up to the second storey of the house and entered through the window by pushing open the shutters.Carpet pythons are constrictor snakes commonly found in coastal areas of Australia and typically feed on small animals, including birds.
