UPSC notification postponed: The Union Public Service Commission has delayed the release of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 notification. The official notice on the website has updated this information. This comes a day after the UPSC website had indicated that the notification would be released on January 14, 2026. It raised expectations among lakhs of civol services aspirants across the country.So far, the UPSC is yet to inform when the notification will be out. The official website has taken down the previous reference to January 14 and currently shows that the notification has been postponed without giving any further explanation.The CSE 2026 notification was planned to be made public on January 14, 2026, along with the commencement of the online application process. Candidates were to submit their applications via upsconline.nic.in, and the application window was to stay open until February 3, 2026.
Civil Services exam remains a key recruitment process
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is a yearly event to select the candidates for various prestigious services, such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), besides many other central government services.According to the previously released calendar, the UPSC CSE Preliminary Exam 2026 is to be held on May 24, 2026, at various exam centres in India. Those candidates who qualify in prelims exam will be allowed to appear for the CSE Mains 2026, which is most likely to start on August 21, 2026. The interview or the personality test is held after the declaration of mains results.There has been no official news about any change in the exam schedule so far.
Application process to begin after notification
As soon as the notification is out, candidates can submit their applications online via upsconline.nic.in. Candidates are advised to do One Time Registration (OTR) on the UPSC portal before they fill out the application form.After doing OTR, candidates will have to provide their personal details, educational qualifications, and preferences for the examination centres.They will also have to upload a recent photograph and signature as per the given format and pay the application fee online. It is advised that candidates download and keep a copy of the confirmation page after the submission.
