Indian Navy recruitment 2026: The Indian Navy has issued a call for applications from unmarried male and female candidates for the 10+2 (B. Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme. It is one more way in which the Navy is encouraging people to be permanent commissioned officers in the Executive and Technical branches. Applicants must be of Indian nationality, as specified by the Government of India, and also must also fulfill the educational and age criteria set by the Navy. The last date to apply for the posts is January 19, 2026.
Vacancies and age eligibility
There have been 44 vacancies released for the Executive and Technical branches via this entry route. Both men and women can apply, but only up to seven women candidates will be considered for the reserved women’s quota.Applicants must have been born between January 2, 2007, and July 1, 2009, with both dates inclusive.The allocation of branches, Executive or Technical (Engineering and Electrical), will be carried out at the Indian Naval Academy after selection.The Navy has clarified that the number of vacancies mentioned is tentative and may change depending on the availability of training slots.
Educational qualification
Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 pattern) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. A minimum of 70 per cent aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) is mandatory. In addition, candidates must have secured at least 50 per cent marks in English, either in Class 10 or Class 12.
Who can apply
Only candidates who have appeared for the JEE (Main) 2025 examination for B.E./B.Tech courses are eligible to apply. Shortlisting for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview will be done based on the JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List (CRL) 2025 published by the National Testing Agency (NTA).Applicants must correctly enter their CRL rank while filling out the application form, as this will form the basis of shortlisting.
Selection procedure
Naval Headquarters will fix the cut-off for SSB shortlisting based on the JEE (Main) 2025 CRL. Shortlisted candidates will be called for SSB interviews, which are scheduled to begin from March 2026 onwards at centres located in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam.Candidates will be informed about their SSB selection through email and SMS. They have been advised not to change their registered contact details until the completion of the selection process. Requests for change of SSB centre or dates will not be entertained.
Medical examination and travel allowance
Candidates recommended by the SSB will have to undergo a medical examination as per standards applicable to the 10+2 (B.Tech) entry. The Indian Navy has stated that there will be no relaxation in medical standards under any circumstances, including height, weight, or tattoo-related norms. Medical guidelines are available on the official website, www.joinindiannavy.gov.in.Candidates appearing for the SSB interview for the first time for a particular type of commission will be eligible for AC 3-tier rail fare reimbursement, subject to conditions.
Merit list and final appointment
A common merit list will be prepared based on SSB performance. The final appointment of the candidate will depend on her medical fitness, police and character verification, and the availability of vacancies.
