The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has lowered the qualifying percentile for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025. The decision has been taken to allow more candidates to participate in Round 3 counselling for the academic session 2025-26.As per the official notice dated January 13, 2026, the revised cut-off has been implemented after approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.
Why was the NEET PG 2025 cut-off reduced?
NBEMS stated that the qualifying percentile has been reduced to fill vacant postgraduate medical seats during the third round of counselling. This change applies only to eligibility for counselling and does not change the NEET PG 2025 rank already published.
Revised qualifying percentile and cut-off scores
Here are the updated cut-off details for NEET PG 2025 after lowering of the qualifying percentile:General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- Earlier qualifying percentile: 50th
- Revised qualifying percentile: 7th
- Revised cut-off score: 103
General Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
- Earlier qualifying percentile: 45th
- Revised qualifying percentile: 5th
- Revised cut-off score: 90
Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), including PwBD of SC, ST and OBC
- Earlier qualifying percentile: 40th
- Revised qualifying percentile: 0th
- Revised cut-off score: –40

- There is no change in NEET PG 2025 ranks declared earlier on August 19, 2025.
- Eligibility for counselling remains provisional and subject to verification of documents.
- Candidates must meet all eligibility conditions mentioned in the NEET PG 2025 Information Bulletin.
- Face ID or biometric verification may be carried out during counselling or admission.
- Aggregate marks in MBBS or Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), if used for tie-breaking, will be verified using original scorecards.
Warning against unfair practicesNBEMS has clearly stated that if any candidate is found using unfair means at any stage of the examination or counselling process, strict action will be taken. This may include cancellation of candidature or results, even if the candidate has already been declared successful.
