AHMEDABAD: Maruti Suzuki India will invest Rs 4,960 crore to set up its second passenger vehicle manufacturing plant in Gujarat, with the board approving land acquisition at Khoraj Industrial Estate near Ahmedabad. The new factory will add 10 lakh vehicles a year to the company’s capacity in the state. Maruti operates a plant at Hansalpur with annual capacity of 7.5 lakh units. With a fourth production line also planned there from FY27, Gujarat’s total output for the company is set to rise to 10 lakh units a year at Hansalpur alone. The second plant will further take this capacity to 20 lakh units.
