Here’s a closer look at the debut movies of the actors who form the backbone of ‘Dhurandhar’.
Ranveer Singh
While ‘Dhurndhar’ is Ranveer Singh’s debut A-rated movie, the superstar’s debut film takes us back to 2010. The actor started his big screen career with romantic-comedy film ‘Band Baaja Baraat’. Singh acted opposite Anushka Sharma in the film as Bittoo, a high-spirited wedding planner in Delhi. Ranveer Singh collected immense praise from fans and marked his solid entry in Bollywood.
Akshaye Khanna
Veteran actor Akshare Khanna has left a long-lasting impact with his performance as ‘Rehman Dakait’ in ‘Dhurandhar’. However, the actor didn’t receive such reviews back when he debuted in 1997. Akshaye Khanna made his Bollywood debut with 1997 romantic drama film ‘Himalay Putra’. In the movie, Khanna starred alongside Hema Malini and Anjala Zaveri. Though the film didn’t perform well at the box office, the actor later received success in the same year with ‘Border’.
Sara Arjun
The young and talented 20-year-old ‘Dhurandhar’ heroine, who played the role of Yaalina Jamil in the movie made her acting debut just when she was 18-months old with a TV commercial. Sara Arjun’s movie debut was made when she was just 6-years old with a Tamil movie ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ in 2011. For Bollywood, Sara’s debut was in the 2013 horror-thriller ‘Ek Thi Daayan’.
Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt played the role of a powerful and controversial Pakistani police officer SP Chaudhary Aslam ‘Dhurandhar’. However, Sanjay Dutt’s debut takes us back to 1981, when he entered Bollywood with romantic action movie ‘Rocky’. Dutt starred opposite Tina Munim and Reena Roy in the film. ‘Rocky’ made a rocking entry in Bollywood and successfully carved Sanjay Dutt’s path on the big screen.
Saumya Tandon
As Ulfat Jahan, the wife of Rehman Dakait, Saumya Tandon delivered an emotional performance in ‘Dhurandhar.’ Popularly known as the ‘on-screen ‘Bhabhiji’ Saumya Tandon has worked in several bollywood movies. She made her big screen movie debut in 2007, fan-favorite classic rom-com ‘Jab We Met’. In the movie, Saumya played the role of Roop, the sister of Kareena Kapoor’s character Geet.
Arjun Rampal
In the recent blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, Arjun Rampal played the part of a chilling antagonist ISI Major Iqbal. Arjun Rampal’s debut film was released back in 2001. He debuted with a romance film called ‘Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’. Even though the movie wasn’t a box office hit, Arjun Rampal’s performance as Gaurav Saxena was critically acclaimed. The film also included Suniel Shetty, Keerthi Reddy and Aftab Shivdasani.
R Madhavan
In ‘Dhurandhar’, R Madhavan played the role of Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau. Madhavan’s first film role was in the 1997 English movie ‘Inferno’, but his breakthrough and first major lead role came in 2000 with the acclaimed Tamil romantic drama ‘Alaipayuthey’. His first Bollywood film was released in 2001, called ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’.
