The Iranian ambassador to India on Sunday dismissed reports claiming Iranian police had arrested Indian nationals as “fake” and urged the public to rely on credible sources for information.In a post on X, sharing the reports, Mohammad Fathali said, “The news circulated on some foreign X accounts about Iran’s developments, is totally false. I request all interested people to get their news from the reliable sources.”According to the rumors, the Iranian police has detained a group of 16 foreign nationals 10 Afghans and 6 Indians along with Iranian nationals involved in the operation. And it added, “according to authorities, this network was responsible for organizing and carrying out the recent rioting and destruction that occurred in Abadan, located in Khuzestan Province.”Protests escalated across Iran, pushing the country into yet another period of political and economic uncertainty. This rumour came amid the protests. This was the second time in less than a year that Iran plunged into crisis, after facing a period of war and heightened confrontation with Israel and the United States in June 2025.
