The warning has been triggered as there has been a rise in complaints being registered over fake FASTags annual passes. The warning has been shared on the social media platform X with a warning to users to avoid clicking on unknown links and third-party sellers by NHAI:Authorities clarified that sharing the registration number of the vehicle, or the FASTag, or the payment information other than the Rajmargyatra app for the annual pass might lead to economic fraud and theft of information. Only the Rajmargyatra app has been authenticated to sell the annual pass.

The FASTag annual pass is intended for private cars, jeeps, and vans, allowing cashless and seamless toll payments.
