Prabhas starrer much awaited ‘The Raja Saab’ has finally hit the screens. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab apart from Prabhas. The early reviews of the film seem to be mixed. While some fans are loving it, others are highly disappointed. However, the advance bookings of the film were good and it has started on a decent note. ‘The Raja Saab’ had a worldwide release in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English. Several cinema halls reported packed early-morning shows as fans turned up in large numbers to watch the first screenings.Despite opening advance sales late and missing a crucial market like Telangana, Prabhas-led ‘The Raja Saab’ has posted an impressive start at the worldwide box office. The romantic horror-comedy has already amassed over Rs 50 crore in global pre-sales for its opening day, a remarkable feat by any standard.
Advance booking trends are particularly strong in Andhra Pradesh, where premiere shows alone have contributed more than Rs 10 crore. Overseas territories have also picked up momentum on the final day before release, collectively registering close to Rs 22 crore from day-one tickets and premieres combined. As of now, till evening on Friday day 1, the film has made Rs 23.34 crore according to Sacnilk. But there were also some paid previews on Thursday where the collection was Rs 9.15 crore. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 32.49 crore. Meanwhile, ‘Dhurandhar’ which has been ruling at the box office since the last five weeks, seems to have experienced a dip in the numbers today with the release of ‘The Raja Saab’ and the Hindi dubbed version of Gujarati film, ‘Laalo’. However, ‘Laalo’ has released in limited screens and hence, won’t be affecting the other two movies much. Also because the Gujarati version of the film has already done so well. Till around the same time on Friday, ‘Dhurandhar’ has made only Rs 1.14 crore. Now the upcoming weekend will be crucial to see if the Prabhas starrer sees growth or proves to be a hit or will it get affected by bad reviews? Time will tell.
