Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is not only loved by her fans, but she is also an inspiration to many. From navigating the highs and lows of the film industry to being a mum of two sweet boys, to building a blended family with beau Saif Ali Khan, Kareena has juggled her personal and professional lives quite well. Speaking about what she loves about her work and how she handles success and failures in life, Kareena shared her views in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar.Talking about her belief that work and success are not a destination but something that she loves doing, Kareena said, “There’s so much yet to achieve because it’s something that I love and enjoy doing – acting. Acting is something that I want to keep doing. It’s part of my DNA, and it’s not like this is a goal that I have to achieve. There’s never really been a goal for me; there’s no end because I want to keep doing what I love, and that’s acting in movies.”
Like any professional, Kareena too has faced her fair share of successes and failures. On being asked how she deals with them and what keeps her going, Kareena shared that it’s a part of life and one’s success or failure shouldn’t define who they are as a person. “Success, I think, should never be taken too seriously, and I feel most actors shouldn’t either. Because if there’s success, there’s failure, and without failure, there’s no success. It’s just the way it’s going to be, especially in this profession. So, I’ve always worn my success very, very loosely, and I don’t take it too seriously, right from the beginning,” she shared.Instead, Kareena further added that her true fulfilment in life comes from her growth as a person and self-belief. “It’s something that we all look forward to, but it can’t be the be-all and end-all of your life. And that is something that, over the years, once you’ve matured in this industry and worked so much, you realize – you work for yourself too,” she said. She added that in the end what truly matters to her is how sincerely she worked and how much her fans loved her in return. “And of course, your fans are so loyal, and you make so many fans along the way – that’s ultimately what matters. Not the Instagram likes, not how you look. I think all of that doesn’t matter. It’s your performance, your loyal fans – these are the things that count more than anything else,” Kareena said. And, doesn’t this hold true for most working professionals? True happiness comes from working sincerely and giving your best. Success and failures are bound to happen, what matters truly is how well you handled them and bounced back after failing.
