With the release of ‘Jana Nayagan’ just around the corner, director H. Vinoth has addressed the long-standing viral speculation about whether the film is a remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Bhagavanth Kesari.’ Since there are many similarities between ‘Jana Nayagan’ and ‘Bhagavanth Kesari,’ the remake claims have taken over.
H. Vinoth neither confirms nor denies remake rumors
Speaking to Ananda Vikatan magazine, Vinoth chose not to give a direct confirmation or denial, reiterating the stance he had already taken during the film’s audio launch. “I cannot say ‘yes,’ and I cannot say ‘no’ to this question. This is purely a Thalapathy Vijay film. People will get their answer after watching at least one show,” he said, a statement that has once again reignited discussions among fans and cinephiles.
‘Jana Nayagan’ director reveals how Vijay ’s farewell film took shape
Vinoth also explained how ‘Jana Nayagan’ was born. He revealed how upon hearing that Vijay is doing his swan song before a political career, he got the story to the star’s manager, thus the birth of the film. Vinoth confessed that with Vijay entering politics soon, he had infused a degree of politics into his story. Vinoth expressed that he was somewhat doubtful if the producer would accept the politics of the film, but to his utter surprise, that played to his advantage, as the producer was more excited and pushed Vinoth to add further politics to the story.
H. Vinoth urges audiences to wait for the film
Addressing the remake debate further, Vinoth explained that audiences should refrain from jumping to conclusions before watching the film. “Some people may assume it is a remake and might even feel angry about it. To them, I would say, “Please wait until the film is screened.” The teaser, trailer, and songs that will be released in the coming days will give a clear picture of what the film truly is,” he stated. He also emphasized that viewers need not worry about whether the film is a remake, inspired by another work, or shares a few similar scenes, as the film’s experience itself would provide clarity.
Vinoth calls Vijay a complete star
Speaking highly of Vijay, Vinoth described him as a complete star actor with an exceptional understanding of cinema. “He is also a good director in his own right, sometimes he knows even more than a director. I learned a lot from working with him, and he doesn’t carry an artificial aura,” Vinoth said. Recalling the 84-day shoot, he said that every day was like watching a new Vijay movie since he did something different each shooting day. Vinoth concluded by saying that the offscreen and onscreen Vijay are two different people, owing to the brilliant performance delivered by the actor.
