HYDERABAD: Nearly a year after a stampede during the pre-release event of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre left a woman dead and her minor son grievously injured, Hyderabad police have filed a chargesheet in the case, naming actor Allu Arjun among the accused.Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the chargesheet has been filed. “Police cited 23 persons as accused including Allu Arjun,” Sajjanar said. The chargesheet was filed two days ago before the IX additional chief metropolitan magistrate court in Nampally. A total of 23 persons have been cited as accused in the case. Allu Arjun has been named as Accused No. 11, while the Sandhya Theatre management has been cited as the prime accused. Police have charged Allu Arjun with abetment, alleging that the sudden arrival of the actor and other members of the Pushpa 2 cast at the theatre in December 2024 triggered a massive rush of fans, which ultimately led to the stampede at the busy RTC X Roads area.Pushpa 2 stampedeA stampede outside Sandhya Theatre at RTC X Roads during the pre-release of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 – The Rule left a 32-year-old woman dead and two others, including a young boy, injured. The incident occurred between 10.30 pm and 11.00 pm when Allu Arjun was at the theatre watching the movie, which was scheduled for a pan-India release the following day. The deceased, identified as Revathi, received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from police before being rushed to a private hospital in Vidya Nagar, but she later succumbed to her injuries. A young boy who had fallen and lost consciousness during the rush was also revived by police using CPR and taken to a private hospital in Begumpet, where he was reported to be recovering. Investigations later revealed that inadequate crowd control measures contributed to the stampede during the star-studded event.
