‘Dhurandhar’ has taken the box office by storm and the industry cannot stop talking about it. While many called it a propaganda film and dismissed it, according to the early reviews, the film’s box office performance left everyone shocked. It broke records and grew more in its second week than the first one. Now Ram Gopal Varma has dropped his review of the film a series of lengthy tweets. The film-maker started off by writing a long note for director Aditya Dhar. He said, “I believe that @AdityaDharFilms has completely and single handedly changed the future of Indian cinema , be it north or south ..That’s because Duradhar is not just a film.. it is a quantum leap. What Dhurandhar achieves is not just scale, but a never before experienced vision not just in sight but in the mind . Aditya Dhar doesn’t direct scenes here… he engineers the states of minds of both the characters and us audience. The film doesn’t ask for your attention.. it commands it. From the very first shot, there’s a sense that something irreversible has been set in motion, and the audience is no longer a spectator but an accomplice to the happenings on screen.”
In his next tweet, RGV wrote pointers on the unique lessons learnt from the film. He lauded Ranveer for understanding the demand of the script and letting Akshaye Khanna take the forefront. He added, “.Unlike the other so called pan india big films, the film doesn’t even try to elevate the hero and give him the so called elevation moments to make the audience forcefully worship him with the use of slow motion and ear splitting background music . It actually lets his flaws and the related consequences coexist, thus making the audience tense instead of giving a clap trap applause.. it is incredible that @RanveerOfficialthe star steps back to allow #akshayekhanna to fill the frame because that is the requirement of the story and is a testament to Ranveer’s understanding of cinema.“The ‘Rangeela’ director further praised the film’s action, background score and appreciated how the film trusts the intelligence of the audience. “It trusts the audience’s intelligence unapologetically. No spoon feeding, no emotional underlining. Meaning is discovered, not delivered,” he said. He concluded by saying, “DHURANDAR’s success is not being just another BLOCKBUSTER , it is a WARNING to the film industry to GROW UP.” Paresh Rawal who had earlier slammed a film critic for her review of ‘Dhurandhar’ further shared RGV’s tweet and took a jibe at her again indirectly. He wrote, “Paresh Rawal wrote, “Hey ramu thanks for teaching our so called CRITICS to how to review the film! Hope they Grow up!” Varma responded to him and said, “Sirrrr every once in a while the industry needs a shot in the arm and AdityaDharFilms STABBED IT 🙏🙏🙏”
