One of the blockbuster Bollywood films, ‘3 Idiots’ is all set to make a grand comeback with a sequel. After years of speculation, it has now been reported that Rajkumar Hirani will return to helm the project. It will also mark the comeback of the beloved cast after 15 years. As the script is now ready, the makers are planning to start shooting from 2026.
Working title revealed as 4 Idiots
According to Pinkvilla, the script is currently being developed under a tentative working title, ‘4 Idiots’. While this title is still subject to change, the makers are looking out for a superstar to expand the iconic franchise beyond its original trio. The makers are actively searching for a fourth idiot. The writing process is underway, and the team is making sure it gets bigger and better and continues from where it was left in the first part. Yet, this isn’t just a simple continuation but will also be introducing new elements to justify the addition of a fourth core character.
Original cast to reunite
The sequel is expected to reunite the beloved cast of the 2009 classic, with Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan slated to step back into their memorable roles. Interestingly, industry chatter hints at the addition of a new “fourth idiot,” a twist that’s fueling excitement among fans. Although 4 Idiots is being used as a tentative title for now.
A record-breaking legacy continues
Released in 2009, ‘3 Idiots’ was marked as a cult classic and get praised from the audience. Interestingly, the movie made history as the first Indian release to cross the Rs 200 crore at the box office. Now, the much-anticipated sequel will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani with Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It will be produced by the actor Aamir Khan.
