The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of singer Neha Singh Rathore over her alleged indecent remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per the reports, a case was registered earlier this year at the Hazratganj Police Station against the YouTuber and Bhojpuri singer over comments made by her in April 2025.
The issue
Several FIRs were registered against Neha Singh Rathore for her comments on the PM. The case is related to the remarks she made in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack in April. In a post, dated April 23, on her X account, she had alleged that the PM-led government was running politics on the grounds of caste and religion.The singer had alleged that the attack was nothing but a failure of intelligence and security of the government in the center. In the post, she went on to say that the government might use the tragedy for their electoral benefits.In another post, Neha criticized the insensitivity of the ruling party, which showcased a cartoon that depicted a grieving widow from the attack.
Neha Rathore defends her remarks
Meanwhile, in an earlier interview with ANI, Rathore defended her comments and added that her words were misinterpreted. She had said, “That was not a song; it was a statement regarding the Pahalgam incident in which many people lost their lives. I asked the PM about the security arrangements for the tourists at that place. And just because of this, complaints and 1 FIR have been lodged against me at many places.”
More about the attack and the complainant
The Pahalgam terror attack took place on April 22, 2025. The gruesome attack claimed the lives of 26 people, which also included one Nepali national. In the complaint against the singer, it was alleged that her social media posts could spread caste-based hatred and anti-national sentiments. Poet Abhay Pratap Singh, who is also known as Abhay Singh, had filed the complaint at the Hazratganj police station.
