Arjun Kapoor is known today for his strong fitness journey, but his early life looked very different. Before stepping into the spotlight in 2012, the actor struggled with extra weight, low energy and a lack of confidence. But his incredible journey of losing nearly 50 kg before making his debut in ‘Ishaqzaade’ shows how simple habits, strong discipline and daily effort can completely change a life.Let’s have a look at how Arjun’s fitness journey
The one exercise Arjun Kapoor swears by
The ‘Gunday’ actor’s transformation did not happen overnight. In a past Instagram post Arjun Kapoor revealed it took him around 15 months to reach his main goals. A major part of his routine was walking, a habit he trusted from a young age.Speaking to ETimes in the past, he explained why walking has always helped him. He said, “When I was fat and overweight, as a kid also, I believed in one thing: that there’s nothing better than walking. Even today, when I want to lose weight, I just keep in mind to get out there and walk. Just be physically active. You cannot sit on your best eating food and then cribbing about the fact that you’re not losing weight.”Walking helped him stay active every day, even before he committed to a full gym routine.
How junk food was removed completely
According to The Indian Express, the ‘2 States’ actor once shared that he is naturally a foodie. But when he decided to focus on fitness, he cut junk food out of his life. He also avoided overeating and stayed away from sugary and high-carb foods. Instead, he chose fresh vegetables, fruits and high-protein meals to stay energised and healthy.A now-deleted Instagram post had given a clear look at Arjun’s daily eating plan. He began his mornings with a high-protein breakfast, usually eggs, before heading for his first gym session. Around 1:30 pm, he had his lunch, which was a Greek Souvlaki Wrap, and then spent the afternoon attending work calls and meetings. In the evening, he enjoyed Turkey Sushi, a snack high in protein, carbs, fibre and energy, which helped him stay active for his second workout of the day. For dinner, he chose Turkish kebabs served with muhammara sauce, mint chutney and pickled vegetables. This simple but well-balanced routine helped him stay consistent without feeling restricted.
Arjun Kapoor also battled with health issues
In 2024, Arjun shared a major health update. He revealed that he had been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition that slows metabolism and causes weight gain.In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, he said, “I haven’t always opened up about it, but I also have Hashimoto’s disease (the autoimmune disease damages the thyroid gland), which is an extension of thyroid. It’s almost like I can take a flight and gain weight because the body goes into distress… your body is in fight-or-flight mode.He further added, “That (Hashimoto’s disease) happened to be when I was 30, and I defied it and I said, ‘No, this can’t be’. My mom (Mona Shourie Kapoor) used to have it, and my sister (Anshula Kapoor) also has it… If I look back today, I can see myself and my body changing through the course of my films. Now that is 2015-16, that’s seven-eight years of me holding that physical trauma and then my films not panning out at the same time.“Arjun Kapoor’s story proves that simple habits, like walking, clean eating and regular exercise, can create big results. On the work front, Arjun was last seen in the romantic comedy ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ alongside Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh. He will also be seen in ‘No Entry 2’, the much-awaited sequel to the classic comedy ‘No Entry’. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film features Arjun Kapoor teaming up with Varun Dhawan.Disclaimer: This article is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
