Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are the internet’s most loved couple. The couple have been together for eight years, and like any long-term relationship, they have faced their share of ups and downs.Recently, Sonakshi opened up on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast about a particularly challenging phase that led them to try couples therapy, a step that ultimately helped them reconnect and understand each other better.
Sonakshi and Zaheer experienced a challenging phase together
The ‘Dabangg’ actress revealed, “Just when we were three years into the relationship, we had a phase where we just wanted to pull each other’s hair out. No matter what we did, we just couldn’t understand each other’s perspective.”
Zaheer suggested therapy, Sonakshi agreed quickly
The ‘Rowdy Rathore’ actress added, “But we did know in our hearts that we had to make this work, and we did couples therapy, and it was Zaheer who suggested it. I was open to it, and after two sessions, we were back on track. It helped so much to understand what the other person thinks, and that what they say is not necessarily what they mean.” The therapy sessions helped Sonakshi and Zaheer communicate better and understand each other’s feelings.
Sonakshi was first to say ‘I love you’
In the same podcast, the ‘Akira’ actress also shared a light-hearted moment from their early dating days. She revealed that she was the first to say “I love you” within just a week of dating, while Zaheer laughed in her face, thinking she was crazy. She explained that it wasn’t just Zaheer’s looks that attracted her, but “the way he made her feel.”
When did Sonakshi and Zaheer get married?
After years of dating, the couple tied the knot in June 2024 at their Bandra home in Mumbai. They were married under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, in the presence of family and close friends.
