Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ is set to release in theatres on December 5. The actor is back on screen in an all-new avatar after ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ But this Aditya Dhar directorial has many other actors and this ensemble is the one of the biggest USPs of the film. ‘Dhurandhar’ also stars R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. The film is having a wide release and the advance bookings also look good. Of course, with positive word of mouth, one may expect the film to grow with spot bookings. However, even with the advance bookings which saw growth in the last two days, one can expect the film to have a record-breaking day 1 number. It is expected to be Ranveer’s biggest post pandemic opener. ’83’ had made Rs 12 crore on the opening day while ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ made Rs 11.1 crore on day 1, according to Sacnilk. The film grew later through word of mouth.Advance bookings began six days ahead of release, allowing enough runway for the film to gather pace. Although the early turnout wasn’t exceptional, ticket sales have been steady and are currently outpacing those of the recently released Tere Ishk Mein, despite the two films catering to entirely different audiences. Given the current trajectory, the film is almost assured of opening above the RS 15 crore mark. If pre-release bookings continue to rise, it has the potential to touch the Rs 20 crore range,or possibly exceed it. With the buzz steadily building, ‘Dhurandhar’ is positioning itself as one of the strongest openers this season.
