Riley Gaines has pushed back hard after new claims said she is making money from her advocacy work. Podcaster and investigative journalist Pablo Torre shared an investigation saying Riley Gaines earned money from speaking events and her leadership center. Gaines quickly rejected all of it and called it a “baseless hit piece.” She said the report does not bother her because she is fully busy caring for her new baby.According to SwimSwam, Pablo Torre’s investigation said Gaines was paid $25,000 in 2025 for an appearance by Harris County Republicans in Houston, Texas. The report also said she earned $126,532 in five months from her leadership center, which was funded by the DeVos Family. Gaines responded that finding out she has a paid job is not a shocking discovery at all. She said she does not care about these claims because she believes she is on the “right side of history.”

Riley Gaines mocked the six-month investigation and said the only “finding” was that she has a job like any other person. She wrote online that she loves when a report tries to attack her, but she is so busy with her “perfect baby” that she barely notices it. She also said even if she did notice it, she still would not care. She told Pablo Torre to “try harder” and repeated that the report was a weak attempt to smear her.Gaines and her husband Louis Barker welcomed their baby girl in October 2025, and she shared that her focus right now is her child, not criticism.Riley Gaines has also spoken again about why she wants transgender athletes kept out of women’s sports. In an interview with Fox News, she said this rule is important for young girls who dream of growing in their sports. She said mixing transgender athletes with biological women will hurt girls’ physical and mental growth. She added that Title IX was written to protect women based on biological sex. She believes changing this meaning will harm women’s sports and weaken the heart of the law. Gaines said sports help girls learn discipline, strength, character, and honesty, and she fears these things will be lost if Title IX is changed.Gaines began her advocacy in 2022, after she tied with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the NCAA Championships but was not given the trophy.
