R Madhavan is one of Indian cinema’s most charming stars, be it his chocolate-boy era in films like ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ or his dashing salt-and-pepper look today. He has always carried a natural charm that goes beyond the usual six-pack trends dominating Bollywood. While many actors chase sculpted abs, Madhavan has never been in a hurry to join that race, and he once explained exactly why, in his honest and humorous style. In a deleted scene from ‘Om Shanti Om’, he even called himself “the Shah Rukh Khan of the South”, showing that he has never taken the fitness competition too seriously. In a past interview with Radiant Wellness, Madhavan had opened up about why he doesn’t aim for a six-pack like Shah Rukh Khan famously did for the film.
Why R Madhavan avoids extreme physical transformations
When asked why he didn’t build a six-pack, the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ replied,“I’ve always been a very family man, so I prefer the family pack. Having said that, that’s just a cheeky answer. The truth of the matter is, getting a six-pack is definitely a beautiful thing, but only if you get it the right way.”Diving deeper into the topic, he explained, “To get a six-pack, you need to have a body fat percentage between 8 to 9 per cent, and that tends to make your face look really old.”
R Madhavan said transformation time matters significantly to him
Madhavan further shared his experience when he committed to building a stronger physique, “Even for Irudhi Suttru, when I built up the physique, it took me one and a half years. Most Indian trainers told me I could get it done in three months, and they’re right, you can, if you add your protein shakes and supplements.”The ‘3 Idiots’ actor further added, “You can get a physique like that. But to get a proper six-pack is a really tough job, and I have great admiration for actors who manage to achieve it.”
R Madhavan’s latest film
