NEW DELHI: In Bihar’s Sahebganj Assembly constituency, early trends indicate a close contest.BJP’s Raju Kumar Singh and RJD’s Prithvi Ray are in a neck to neck race in the ninth round of vote counting. Raju Kumar is leading with 35,637 votes while RJD’s Prithvi Ray trails behind with 33,661 votes.A hotly contested three-way battle is underway where candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) are vying for the seat. Polling for Sahebganj concluded on November 11 and the results will be announced by evening.In the contest are Raju Kumar Singh from BJP, Prithvi Ray contesting from RJD, and Thakur Hari Kishore Singh from JSP.
Back in the 2020 assembly elections, Raju Kumar Singh of Vikassheel Insaan Party had won the seat with 81,203 votes (44.25%), defeating Ramvichar Rai (RJD), who secured 65,870 votes (35.90%), by a margin of 15,333 votes (8.36%). 1,105 votes (0.60%) went to Nota.The Sahebganj assembly constituency, situated in Muzaffarpur district, is a general category seat and one of the six assembly segments forming the Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency.Sahebganj continues to be a crucial constituency, closely watched for insights into Bihar’s evolving political dynamics and governance outlook.
